I HATE the Yankees! Don't know them and don't wanna cuz I KNOW they are EVIL!

This hate is only about a day old so it's fresh and strong. Yesterday, people at work were talking about "the game" when I walked in and asked, in all earnestness, "What game?" They told me all about last Saturday's brouhaha. My hometeam pride skipped gestation and suddenly came to life. On the way home last evening, this pride was already bristling when, on one of the unending talk-shows on NPR, Eric Alterman -- the brashest, shrillest liberal I've ever agreed with -- began his comments on Rush Limbaugh and the right-wing talk-shows by first reminding us what really mattered: that the Red Sox kick some Yankee butt.

That did it. Now I am a Yankee-hater and today, as I was doing my laundry, my guys, the Red Sox, trounced them 9-6...YES!!!

GO SOX!

Pssst! Don't tell anyone that I mutter bad things about the Sox everytime I get stuck in traffic near Fenway Park when there's a home game.
