Alistair, the author of ODAAT, reviewed this blog a few weeks ago at The Weblog Review. I haven't yet had a chance to think about his suggestions. I realize that I might've been a bit of a disappointment recently to those who've come by here looking for fresh words from me...and don't tell me you didn't miss me because I've been tracking your footprints at Site Meter. You can drop the act, I know you care and, since you do care, you might as well read what Alistair had to say and share with me your thoughts about what I'm doing here. Anyways, among the stuff that kept me from blogging over the past month or so was my quiet return to the gym after about a year-long absence. This happened when I had to finally accept failure in convincing myself that the size-queens out there would really dig the ampler me. I had to face the fact that those queens are far more sophisticated and discerning than I was willing to acknowledge. Yes, size does matter to them but it's the size of the package, not the packaging. And what's more, they won't go near a package, not matter how exquisitely sized, if the packaging in which it's presented is sloppy...so much for "inner beauty"! So, I've been hauling my butts to the gym in the morning before work for the past couple of weeks. Being the do-gooder that I am, I dedicate the aerobic portion of my workouts to science. I'm a subject in a study of the cardiovascular effects in men of running toward an unattainable goal. The experiments involve me imitating a hampster on a treadmill, running toward the shirtless men of Uga Uga on a TV screen on the control panel of the treadmill. No more late-night blogging for me, gotta get my gym-bag ready and start looking for my bed... --aslam 9:49:25 PM |
